The United Nations through the secretary general Ban Ki-moon has expressed heartfelt condolences to all those affected and the country as a whole.

Kenya Red Cross workers resumed the search for bodies at the Mukuru Sinai Slums after cutting short the mission Monday night due to lack of electricity.

The Red Cross rescue operation team was on the ground for the second day running sieving through the Nairobi River waters that pass through the Sinai Slums where some of the victims met their death.

So far six bodies have been recovered increasing the number of all the recovered bodies to 86, with 5 others dying as they received treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital.

The mission will continue the whole day as most of the bodies are believed to be in the river along the slum where most victims dived hoping to escape the fire.
